Zoning Board

Powers and Duties

  • To hear and determine requests for variances from the Zoning Ordinance in accordance with the standards as set for the in the Ordinance.
  • After a hearing, may determine and vary any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Zoning Officer.
  • All decisions made by the Zoning Board of Appeals are final and subject to judicial review.

 

Membership

  • Membership of the Zoning Board of Appeals shall consist of seven (7) members appointed by the Mayor with approval of the City Council.
  • At least two (2) such members shall be named from among the members of the Planning Commission.
  • The Mayor shall designate the Chairperson with the approval of the City Council.

Meeting Schedule

  • The Zoning Board of Appeals meets as needed.
  • Meeting notices are posted at City Hall, on the city website and in the Dispatch/Argus newspaper.

 

Application

  • Anyone wishing to bring a request before the Zoning Board of Appeals must:

    1. Submit their request in writing to City Hall with the City Clerk, and

    2. Pay a non-refundable application fee of $150 at the time of submission.

Incomplete applications or those submitted without the required fee will not be considered.
