Schedule of Fees

Below are the fees for various services provided by the City of Colona.  Unless where noted, fees are to be paid at Colona City Hall, 100 East 9th Avenue.

Water/Sewer/Refuse (Garbage)

  • Water is $8.75 flat fee plus $2.89 per 1000 gallons monthly.
  • Sewer is $8.35 flat fee plus $5.40 per 1000 gallons monthly.
  • Refuse/Garbage is $13.75 monthly. 
  • Debt Service Bond (BD) of 9.00 monthly (effective Dec. 1, 2019). (This goes towards paying off city bond issues to build the new water tower and update the sewer treatment plant to EPA specifications.)
  • $0.90 monthly to pay for the loan to replace the mechanical bar screen at the sewer treatment plant.
  • $1.00 monthly to be set aside for capital improvements for water and sewer services.
  • A 10% penalty fee is added on the 21st of the month.
  • Shutoff notice fee of $25 is added for those residents who are 60 days in arrears on the 21st of each month.
  • Turn off/on fee of $75 dollars is added to residents who are 70 days in arrears. 

 

Building Permits

Building permit fees are to be doubled when a building permit has not been acquired by noon on the first day of construction.  The property owner shall be directly liable for such permit costs.

The valuation of construction projects for the purpose of Permit Fees is as follows:

  • $15 per sq ft wood frame - garages, sheds, etc (new construction)
  • $18 per sq ft masonry construction - garages, sheds, etc.
  • $7 per sq ft open car port
  • $78 per sq ft new home construction
  • $17 per sq ft storage warehouse, etc.
  • $28 per sq ft manufacturing warehouse, etc.

 

Business License

  • $50 for the initial license; no charge for annual registration

 

Park Pavilion Rental

  • To reserve a city park pavilion for your event;
  • 7 am - 4 pm: $15
  • 4 pm - 10 pm: $15
  • All day: $30

 

Miscellaneous Fees

  • Appliance stickers: $10 (Appliances to be picked up by Jackson Disposal.)
  • Furniture stickers: $5 per item
  • Yard Waste stickers: $2  (Yard waste to be picked up by Jackson Disposal.)
  • Garage/Yard/Basement Sales: $1.00 each
  • Pet Tags: $5.00 each dog and cat (for spayed or neutered pets); $10 per cat and dog not spayed or neutered. (Must be purchased at Colona Police Department, 215 1st Street.)  Bring proof of rabies vaccination and documentation from veterinarian if your pet has been spayed or neutered. 
    • Pet Tags can be obtained at the Colona Police Station. 
  • Notary Services: $1.00
