Government
Welcome to Colona!
The City of Colona was formed when the City of Green Rock and the Village of Colona merged in May, 1997.
Colona is an Aldermanic-City form of government. There are four wards in Colona. Two aldermen from each ward (for a total of eight) are elected on a staggered basis every two years. (The ward map showing ward boundaries is available for viewing at City Hall.)
The Mayor is the CEO of the city and is elected "at large" to a four year term. The City Clerk is also elected "at large" to a four year term.
The Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council, makes appointments to staff positions and commissions and boards.
Visit the City Officials page to get to know the Mayor and Aldermen.
The City Council meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month (unless it is a holiday) at 6:00 pm at City Hall, 100 East 9th Avenue.
