School Zone Jaywalking

School Zone Jaywalking Ordinance Passed

Concern about parents and children crossing IL Hwy 84 in areas other than the designated crosswalk at the school prompted the Colona City Council to pass a jaywalking ordinance on December 27, 2010, making it illegal to jaywalk within the school zone boundaries (designated by existing signs).  The ordinance will be strictly enforced 30 minutes before school begins and 30 minutes after school begins as well as 30 minutes prior to the end of the school day and 30 minutes after school lets out.
