New Utility Rates Start May 1, 2024

Starting May 1, 2024 rates for Water and Sewer will increase for the first annual 3% raise that was passed on March 27, 2023 under Ordinance O-23-03. The water rate will increase to $0.34 per 1,000 gals of usage and the sewer rate will increase to $0.40 per 1,000 gals of usage.

Also, starting May 1, 2024 a one-time rate increase for Capital Improvement and Refuse will be applied as part of Ordinance O-24-01 passed on February 12, 2024. The Capital Improvement rate will increase from $0.50 per 1,000 gals to $1.00 per 1,000 gals. Refuse will also be increased from $12.75 to $13.75 monthly.

Below are common usage rates showing the former rate vs the new rate and the difference between the two. The most common household usage for a single family of 2-4 people is between 3,000 – 5,000 GALS. Higher usages can vary based on household needs. However, if your usage fluctuates higher than normal there are many possibilities. Check out the information for High-Water Bills because a single dripping leak can use 15 gallons of water per day.

If you have had a new meter installed it is measuring your water usage more precisely, and your old meter may not have been fully measuring your actual usage. New meters ensure fairness and equality among customers and ensure that each individual residence or business is being held responsible for their water use.

Rates are configured as such:
Water: $8.75 (flat fee) + $2.89 x GALS used. Sewer: $8.35 (flat fee) + $5.40 x GALS used.
Capital Improvement: $1.00 x GALS used. Refuse: $13.75 (flat fee)
Example: Water usage for 5,000 GALS is: $8.75 + ($2.89 x 5) = $23.20
Example: Sewer usage for 5,000 GALS is: $8.35 + ($5.40 x 5) = $35.35
Example: Capital Improvement usage for 5,000 GALS is: $1.00 x 5 = $5.00
