Items to Be Picked Up by the Refuse Company

  • Cans of paint will be picked up if the lid is removed and the paint dried out or you can add kitty litter to absorb the paint.
  • Needles used for injections should be put in some kind of container such as milk jug, coffee can, etc. and then put out with the regular trash.
  • Carpet must be cut in 4 foot sections, rolled and tied. Contact LRS disposal for further details.
  • Mattresses must be wrapped in plastic.
  • Car parts, fencing, tires, motor oil, electronic items will not be picked up by the refuse company.
  • An additional cart may be rented for $5.00 per month. Contact LRS at (309)714-3148 for arrangements.

Appliance Disposal
  • They will pick up "white goods" or appliances such as washers, stoves, refrigerators, etc., provided you have an Appliance Sticker on them.
  • TVs and computers can now be picked up with the regular garbage, but must have an Appliance Sticker on them.
  • You can purchase an Appliance Sticker at City Hall for $10 per sticker.
Yard Waste
  • Yard waste debris may be put in paper yard waste bags.  Each bag must have a Yard Waste Sticker on it.  Pick-up of yard waste is on Wednesdays.
  • You may purchase Yard Waste Stickers at City Hall for $2.00 each. 
  • Begins April 1st (or closest trash pickup day after). Ends at the first snowfall or December 1st, whichever comes first.
Curbside Recycling
  • A 96-gallon cart on wheels with a lid is available on request. Call LRS at 309-714-3148 to request one.
Electronics Disposal
  • TVs and computers can now be picked up with the regular garbage, but must have an Appliance Sticker on them.
