Water Services and Billing
Moving?
- Before you move, call City Hall or email us to give the office your closing date and forwarding address, for your final bill. You will be charged for usage only up to your closing date. We do not shut the water off at the street.
- For a mobile home trailer, call City Hall to give the office your closing date and forwarding address, for your final bill. If there is no balance on your account your deposit will be refunded. If there is a balance, it is deducted from the deposit and the remainder is forwarded to your new address.
New Residents
- New water/sewer customers must come into City Hall (100 East 9th Avenue) during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm) to complete a water contract.
- If you live in a mobile home trailer that is billed individually and not to the park, you must place a $250.00 deposit for your water service. This is refundable upon departure, provided there is no balance on your account. You will also need to bring in a copy of your Lease agreement with the park.
Billing
- Water/sewer meters are read monthly and bills mailed out following the readings. The bills are in arrears so you are being billed for water/sewer/refuse that has already been used. Due dates are clearly marked on the bill and penalties apply to delinquent bills. See Water Bill Procedures

- No allowances are given on the sewer bill for leaks or pools.
Delinquent Accounts

Payment Options
- Monthly payments are due every month on the 20th by 4:30pm.
- You may pay your water bill by mail. Mail to: Colona City Hall, PO Box 170, Colona IL 61241-0170.
- Drop your payment in the drop box located at City Hall, 100 East 9th Avenue.
- Do not place red tag/shut off payments in the drop box. They will be considered late.
- Pay your water bill in person at City Hall during regular business hours of Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00pm.
- Make the payment with automatic withdrawal from your checking or savings account. There is no additional fee for this service. Forms can be found here or picked up at City Hall
- Click on the MuniciPay button to pay your bill online. There is a service fee for this convenience. See below.

Credit Card Payments Made in Office or Online
The City of Colona offers the convenience of accepting MasterCard, Discover, American Express and Visa credit cards for water/sewer/refuse bills. The payment processing company charges a service fee of 2.65% or $3.00 minimum to cardholders who use this service. Just stop by our office to use your MasterCard, Discover Card, American Express or Visa.
