Zoning Board of Appeals
Powers and Duties
- To hear and determine requests for variances from the Zoning Ordinance in accordance with the standards as set for th in the Ordinance.
- After a hearing, may determine and vary any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Zoning Officer.
- All decisions made by the Zoning Board of Appeals are final and subject to judicial review.
Membership
- Membership of the Zoning Board of Appeals shall consist of seven (7) members appointed by the Mayor with approval of the City Council.
- At least two (2) such members shall be named from among the members of the Planning Commission.
- The Mayor shall designate the Chairperson with the approval of the City Council.

Meeting Schedule
- The Zoning Board of Appeals meets as needed.
- Meeting notices are posted at City Hall, on the city website and in the Dispatch/Argus newspaper.
Application
- Anyone wishing to make a request of the Zone Commission must make their request in writing to the Plan Commission, submit it to the City Clerk and pay a $150 fee with their application.
